YNOTFORTOTS believes that all children deserve access to the resources they need to play, to learn and to grow.
In November 2015, Mohit Sodhi and Lindsay Richter founded YNOTFORTOTS. They initially came up with the idea of starting YNOTFORTOTS after taking an elective course at UBC together about the ‘social determinants of health’. They were astonished to find out that 1 in 5 children in BC was living in poverty.
From the course they learned the great impact that child development has on future long term health outcomes; 1 in 3 children in BC start school off vulnerable, and these vulnerabilities are what affect their future health.
With this information in combination with government budget cuts to the public school system, they knew they needed to do something to ensure these local kids have access to all they need to play, learn, and grow. Being passionate about health care themselves, they were inspired to start at the root of the issue.
Due to all the cuts in funding, there are many schools who need help getting equipment and the tools necessary to enrich the lives of their students and to support their education. We strive to help these children and give the resources needed to fulfill their potential!
